DIY stores are an everyday do-it-yourself paradise for a variety of occasions and a large group of different people. The assortment of goods ranges from building and craft materials and tools to essential or seemingly practical individual parts. Such a DIY store becomes a showroom and exhibition space while it is in operation. The DIY enthusiasts become the audience, the objects of their desire become arranged exhibition elements. Instant sculptures, objects and ad hoc assemblages, assembled by the artist on site with the self-confidence and self-assurance of experienced DIY enthusiasts, gradually fill the aisles and shelves, asserting a life of their own against the mass-produced goods on display. They claim their place and provoke a moment of distraction in the usual consumption process. The salesroom with its wide halls and excellent lighting provides a well-tempered working environment. It becomes the artist's studio and at the same time an exhibition space for the numerous visitors.
